More than truck casings
Retreading is usually thought of as a trucking business, and commercial truck casings are a large part of what any plant handles. The Phoenix plant's list is wider than that, and the width matters to customers who would not think of retreading at all.
It works on eight casing categories:
- Commercial truck and trailer casings, the familiar case.
- Agricultural casings, from tractors and farm equipment.
- OTR casings, from loaders, haul trucks and graders, where the casing is the most expensive part of a very expensive tire.
- Industrial casings, from forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Light truck and passenger casings.
- UTV and ATV casings.
Tracks are not retreaded at any Purcell plant.
The practical point is for the farm, the site and the warehouse. A casing from a tractor, a loader or a forklift is worth asking about before it goes on the scrap pile. Whether a given casing can be retreaded or repaired is decided at inspection, and that inspection only happens if the casing is sent.
These are casings the plant works on, not tires it sells. For tires in Phoenix, call the Commercial & Consumer store or Distribution Services.
Who sends casings here
Purcell's Arizona stores collect casings and bring them to the plant: the Phoenix Commercial & Consumer store, Casa Grande, Kingman, Tucson, Willcox and Yuma. You deal with the store you already use; the plant does the work and the casings come back ready to run.
The production shift
The plant runs from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a production shift rather than retail hours. If you are delivering casings yourself rather than through a store, plan around that window and call ahead.
