Book it in the slot you actually have
Inspections tend to be left until the week they are due, which is when the working day gets in the way. The vehicle you need for work is the vehicle that needs inspecting, and taking a morning off to sit in a waiting room is the part people avoid.
The De Soto store's hours help with that. It opens at 7:00 AM and stays open until 5:30 PM, later than most Purcell stores. A drop before work and a pickup after is realistic here, provided it is booked rather than attempted as a walk-in on a busy day.
When you call:
- Say it is an inspection. The store can tell you what paperwork to bring and what the current requirement is for your vehicle.
- Mention anything you already know is wrong. A noise, a warning light, a cracked windshield. If it is likely to matter, it can be dealt with at the same visit rather than after a failure.
- Ask about timing. If you need the vehicle back by a certain hour, say so when booking.
What the inspection covers
The requirements are set by the state of Missouri, not by Purcell, and they change from time to time. Confirm the current requirement for your vehicle with the store when you book, or with the state directly. The national state inspections page lists the common, easily avoided reasons for failure.
If something needs fixing
The advantage of inspecting at a store that also repairs vehicles is that a failure does not mean finding a second shop. Brake repair, suspension repair, tires and the rest are at this address. Ask for the cost before any work starts.
Other Missouri inspection stores
Fenton and Washington also perform state inspections.
