One visit for the oil and the tire rotation
Most drivers treat the oil change and the tire rotation as two separate jobs on two separate reminders, and the result is two trips, or more often one of the two jobs quietly skipped.
On a great many vehicles the two intervals are close to each other in the owner's manual. Lining them up so they happen at the same visit is one of the simplest maintenance habits there is, and the store that changes your oil also carries all nine Purcell tire categories and does tire and wheel balancing on site.
Rotation matters more than most people think. Front tires and rear tires wear differently, because the front ones steer and, on most cars, do most of the braking and driving. Moving them around at regular intervals evens out that wear, so all four reach the end of their life together rather than replacing two at a time and ending up with a mismatched set.
What to ask for at the combined visit
- The oil and filter, to the grade and specification your manual calls for.
- A tire rotation in the pattern the manufacturer recommends for your vehicle.
- Pressures set, and a look at tread depth and wear across each tire.
- A quick check of the other fluids, lights and wipers.
The wear pattern found during rotation is often the earliest sign of an alignment or suspension problem, so it is worth asking what was seen.
Why it suits a commute
Drivers covering a lot of miles on I-44 and around the metro area reach both intervals quickly. Booking one early-morning visit, with the store open from 7:00 AM, is easier to keep than two. Anything due beyond the oil and the tires goes on scheduled maintenance, and the national oil change page explains what the service includes.
Other stores nearby
De Soto and Washington also change oil.
