About the brand
Continental is a German manufacturer founded in Hanover in 1871. It is one of the oldest tire makers still operating and one of the largest, with ranges covering passenger cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles.
Where it comes up
Continental is a name that tends to appear in two conversations at a Purcell counter. The first is a car or SUV owner who wants a European-engineered tire. The second is a commercial operator comparing long-haul casings on cost per mile rather than on sticker price.
Both conversations go the same way. The size, the load, the surface and the climate decide, and the brand narrows it rather than settling it. See passenger tires for the first and commercial tires for the second.
What Purcell does
Buying the tire is one step of several:
- Tire and wheel balancing at 51 locations.
- Car and light truck alignment at 40 locations, heavy-duty truck alignment at 40.
- Retreading at seven plants, which works on the casing whatever the brand.
- Fleet services at 49 locations for operators running several units.
At Purcell, Continental is one of the brands carried for OTR tires on heavy equipment.
Availability
Which brands and sizes a Purcell location holds depends on the customers that store serves. A commercial store in a mining region and a consumer store in a suburb stock very differently, and both are right for their customers. Call with your size and the store will tell you what it has or can get.
The locations directory carries phone numbers for all 64 locations, and each location page lists the tire categories that store handles.
