Built for machines that work off the road
Titan International is an American manufacturer of tires and wheels for agricultural, construction and off-highway equipment. That focus is the reason the name comes up in a different kind of conversation from the passenger car brands: the customer is usually standing next to a tractor, a loader or a grain cart rather than a sedan.
Where it fits in the Purcell range
Two categories cover most of it:
Agricultural tires, carried at 55 Purcell locations in 12 states, for tractors, combines, sprayers, implements, grain carts and irrigation equipment.
OTR tires, carried at 55 locations in 12 states, for loaders, haul trucks, graders and the rest of the off-highway fleet.
Which brands a given store holds in those categories varies with the customers around it, so a farm country store and a mining region store will answer the same question differently. Both answers are right for their customers.
At Purcell, Titan is also one of the brands carried for UTV and ATV tires.
What to bring to the conversation
Off-highway sizing is unforgiving, and the wrong call shows up as a tire that rubs, a machine that sits wrong, or wear that arrives years early. Have this ready:
- The machine, by make and model.
- The size exactly as it reads on the sidewall.
- The job: tillage, harvest, loading face, haul road, yard.
- The ground: clay, sand, stubble, rock, concrete.
- What failed last time, and where on the tire.
Service around the tire
- OTR services at 41 locations, for fitting, change-outs and repairs on off-highway tires.
- Wheel refurbishing at 42 locations, which on agricultural and off-highway wheels is usually a fraction of replacement.
- Retreading at seven plants. Six list agricultural and OTR casings among what they retread or repair, and on tires this size the casing is where the money is.
- Mining fleet services at 13 locations, for sites running a managed tire program.
