The vehicles that get forgotten before a busy season
Operations here prepare their machines for the season. The pickups and the service trucks that will be running alongside those machines, back and forth all day, every day, for weeks, rarely get the same treatment.
That is the gap worth closing, because those vehicles are the ones with no spare. A combine has a plan if it stops. The truck that fetches parts does not, and when it stops it takes somebody's whole afternoon with it.
The list is short and it is better done in a quiet week:
- Cooling system and coolant level, since the hard use falls in the hot months. See cooling system service.
- Air conditioning checked before you need it, which in this humidity is a working condition rather than a comfort.
- Brakes, particularly on anything that tows.
- Tires measured, including the spare, and the wear patterns read.
- Belts, hoses and battery, which age by time rather than use.
- Fluid levels and a look underneath, which is where a developing leak is visible.
Which interval applies the rest of the year
Dust, unpaved roads, towing, weight and idling all shorten a service interval, which the national scheduled maintenance page explains. Most working vehicles here qualify several times over.
Describe the work the vehicle does rather than quoting its mileage.
One store for the yard and the vehicles
Jonesboro runs seventeen services and carries all nine Purcell tire categories, so the machines, the trucks and the pickups are handled at one address. For several vehicles, attach the schedule to a fleet account so it is kept rather than remembered.
About this store
The Jonesboro store opens at 7:00 AM and is managed by Tony Kuehnel.
See the national scheduled maintenance page for all 33 locations.
