About the brand
Bridgestone is a Japanese manufacturer founded in 1931 and one of the largest tire makers in the world. It builds across passenger, commercial and off-highway ranges. Firestone, another brand Purcell works with, has been part of Bridgestone since 1988.
Two ranges, two conversations
Commercial. Long-haul and regional truck tires are bought on cost per mile, casing life and availability. The questions worth asking are how the casing comes back at retread time and whether the specification can be held across the whole fleet. See commercial tires and fleet services.
Off-highway. For loaders, haul trucks and graders, the decision is about load, surface and heat rather than mileage. See OTR tires, carried at 55 Purcell locations, and mining fleet services, run from 13.
What Purcell adds
Purcell is a service business first. Whatever brand goes on the machine:
- Tire and wheel balancing at 51 locations.
- Heavy-duty truck alignment at 40 and trailer alignment at 36.
- OTR services at 41 locations and wheel refurbishing at 42.
- Retreading at seven plants, working on the casing rather than the brand.
Availability
Stock varies by location and by size, and each store sets up around the customers in front of it. A commercial store on a freight corridor and a store in a mining region will answer the same question differently, and both are stocking correctly for their own customers.
When you call, have the size from the sidewall, the machine it is going on, and what the tire does in a normal week. For off-highway equipment, add the surface and the duty cycle, since those decide more than anything printed on the sidewall.
