A name older than most of its customers' trucks
Firestone was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1900 and has been part of Bridgestone since 1988. It is one of the handful of brands that a farmer, a fleet manager and a car owner will all recognize without being told anything about it.
Where it shows up at a Purcell counter
Firestone covers ground across several of the categories Purcell serves, which is why it comes up in different conversations at different stores. A commercial store talks about it one way, a store in farm country another, and a consumer store another again.
What stays the same is the order of the questions. The machine, the size, the load and the surface come first; the brand narrows what is left. See agricultural tires, commercial tires and passenger tires for how that works per category.
What Purcell adds
- Fitting and balancing at the service locations, 51 of which offer balancing.
- Alignment for cars and light trucks at 40 locations, and for heavy trucks at 40.
- Retreading at seven plants, which works on the casing rather than the brand on it.
- 24-hour roadside assistance at 48 locations.
At Purcell, Firestone is one of the brands carried for OTR tires on heavy equipment.
Availability
Stock varies by location and by size. Farm country stores, commercial stores and consumer stores each stock for the customers in front of them. Call the store nearest you with the size, the machine and what it does, and they will tell you what they can supply.
The locations directory lists all 64 Purcell locations with phone numbers.
