About the brand
Goodyear was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1898 and is one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world. It builds across the full range, from passenger cars to commercial trucks and off-highway equipment. Cooper, another brand Purcell works with, became part of Goodyear in 2021.
Fleets and the brand question
For a fleet, brand is a procurement decision rather than a preference. What matters is whether one specification can be held across every unit and every state the fleet runs in, whether the casings come back retreadable, and whether the tire is available when a truck is down at midnight in a town nobody planned to stop in.
That is the conversation to have with a Purcell location rather than with a brochure. Fleet services runs from 49 Purcell locations in 12 states, and the account is where specifications, scheduled work and records live.
Cars and light trucks
For a car or a pickup, the same principle applies on a smaller scale: the size, the load, the surface and the weather decide, and two or three lines from two or three makers will fit the brief. See passenger tires and light truck tires.
What Purcell adds
- Tire and wheel balancing at 51 locations.
- Heavy-duty truck alignment at 40 and trailer alignment at 36, which protect tread life across a whole unit.
- Retreading at seven plants, working on the casing rather than the badge.
- 24-hour roadside assistance at 48 locations, for when the tire decides the schedule.
At Purcell, Goodyear is one of the brands carried for OTR tires on off-the-road equipment.
Availability
Stock varies by location. Call with the size from the sidewall and the vehicle or machine it is going on, and the store will tell you what it can get and when.
