Read the whole sidewall, not just the size
Two OTR tires can carry the same size marking and be built for quite different work. Ordering by size alone is how a machine ends up on a tire that fits the rim and does not suit the job.
The sidewall carries more than the size. On an OTR tire the markings usually include:
The load rating. A star rating or a ply rating indicating how much weight the tire is built to carry at a given pressure. A lower rating than the original may fit perfectly and still be overloaded on that machine.
The service code. An industry code describing the type of work and tread the tire is designed for: earthmover, loader, grader, and the tread depth or pattern within that type. A grader tire and a loader tire of the same size are not interchangeable in practice.
The construction. Radial or bias. Mixing them on one machine, especially on the same axle, is generally a mistake.
What to send when you order
A clear photograph of the full sidewall of the tire coming off, or the complete marking written down, not only the size. Add the machine, what it does day to day and what the surface is like.
Out here that matters more than usual. With the nearest other Purcell store a long way away, ordering the wrong tire costs time that is hard to get back. The more exactly the store knows what is needed, the more likely the right tire is on the truck the first time.
Beyond fitting
Damaged tires are assessed for repair before replacement, and the rims under them can go to wheel refurbishing. Sound casings can go into Purcell's retreading program. The national OTR services page covers fitting, repair and supply. For a managed mining program, Phoenix runs mining fleet services.
Other OTR stores
North Las Vegas and Phoenix Commercial & Consumer also offer OTR services.
