Five minutes on the phone before you come
This store asks people to call ahead, and it is worth explaining what that call is actually for rather than treating it as a booking formality.
It establishes three things, and each one changes how the visit goes.
Whether the work is on this store's list. Seventeen services covers a great deal and not everything, and finding that out before you drive over is better than after.
How long to allow. The difference between a job you wait for and a job you leave the vehicle for is worth knowing in advance, because it decides whether you need somebody to collect you.
Whether anything needs ordering. A part that has to come in turns a one-visit job into a two-visit one, unless it was ordered before you arrived, in which case it does not.
That third one is where most of the value is. A vehicle described properly on the phone can have its parts waiting.
Describe the behavior, not the diagnosis
The other half of a useful call. Say what the vehicle is doing rather than what you think is wrong with it.
A noise and when it happens. A pull and on what surface. A vibration and at what speed. A warning light and whether anything changed when it appeared.
That description narrows things down faster than a guess at the cause, and it avoids the situation where a shop spends its time investigating somebody's theory rather than the symptom.
What belongs on the schedule
Every item on a service schedule declines without producing a symptom, which the national scheduled maintenance page sets out. Short trips, idling and stop-start work all shorten the interval, and city driving supplies all three.
If tires and other work are both due
Say so when you book. The wheels are coming off anyway, and doing both in one visit saves a second trip.
