What synthetic actually buys you
Worth being straight about, because it is the question asked at the counter more than any other and the answers people get vary.
Synthetic oil is more consistent in its structure than conventional oil, which means it holds up better at high temperature and flows better when cold. Those are real properties with real consequences for an engine doing hard work or starting in genuine cold.
What it does not do is make a worn engine healthy, fix an oil leak, or let you ignore a schedule indefinitely. It also does not change the fact that oil picks up contaminants from combustion, which is a function of use rather than of the oil's quality.
Two practical points. Many modern vehicles specify synthetic, in which case the decision has already been made for you. Where a longer interval is claimed for it, the manufacturer's own figure is the one worth following rather than a general claim, since the manufacturer knows what the engine does with it.
If your vehicle tows, carries weight, or spends time on long climbs, the case for an oil that holds up at temperature is stronger than it is for a commuter.
Which interval applies
Towing, carrying weight and sustained climbing all put a vehicle on the shorter of the two intervals its manufacturer publishes. Scheduled maintenance covers how that works and what else it changes.
While it is on the lift
Tread depth and wear patterns, brake condition, leaks and suspension components are quick checks with a vehicle already up. Brake condition is worth asking for specifically here, since descending grades is hard on them.

About this store
The Colorado Springs store carries all nine Purcell tire categories, opens at 7:00 AM, and is managed by Tyler Campbell. Denver and Loveland also do oil changes.
