What decides whether a casing passes
Every casing arriving here gets the same question asked of it, and the answer is already determined by what happened to the tire before it was pulled.
A casing comes in sound, in which case it retreads. It comes in damaged but repairable, in which case it is repaired first. Or it comes in structurally finished, in which case nothing can be done and it has cost its owner the most expensive part of a tire.
The third outcome is not bad luck. It is the result of a tire run flat, a puncture nobody repaired, or months of under-inflation building heat through the casing where no outside inspection would find it. None of those is about the brand on the sidewall.
The categories this plant works on
Eight: commercial truck, agricultural, OTR, industrial, light truck, passenger, trailer, and UTV and ATV.
Agricultural and OTR are where the sums are largest, because those tires accumulate hours rather than miles and the casing routinely outlives several treads. Tracks are not retreaded at any Purcell plant.
No tires are sold at this address and no vehicles are worked on. For tires in Boise, the commercial and consumer store is at 8718 S. Eisenman Rd on the same road.
A store at the gate and fleets further out
Two kinds of customer send casings here, and they are not in the same position.
The first is anybody dealing with the Purcell store a few doors up. For them the transport problem that normally shapes a retreading decision barely exists, which makes the program straightforward to use on tires that would not justify a long haul.
The second is everybody else: the fleets behind Idaho Falls Commercial and Twin Falls, and operations further out for whom Boise is the nearest of the seven Purcell plants. For them the arithmetic is the usual one, and it still works, which is why the plants are spread the way they are.
Timing, if you are working to a date
Turnaround depends on what is already in the plant when a casing arrives, which is the one variable nobody can promise around.
The way to manage it is to say what the date is. A seasonal changeover, a contract starting, a machine coming out of the shed in March: raise any of those through your store at the point the casings are collected, rather than calling to ask where they are a fortnight later. Work the plant can see coming is work it can place.
