When the truck is hired, settle who calls before harvest
At harvest a lot of grain moves on trucks that do not belong to the farm whose grain it is. Custom haulers, a neighbor's tractor-trailer, a relative's straight truck brought in for the season. It works well until a tire goes, and then a simple question has no answer: who makes the call, and who pays for it?
The driver assumes the owner of the truck will authorize it. The truck owner assumes the farm will, since it is their load. The farm assumes the hauler has it covered. Meanwhile a loaded truck sits on the shoulder and the combine in the field fills up with nowhere to dump.
None of that is a tire problem. It is a paperwork problem, and it is solved in a five minute conversation before the season starts.
Agree who authorizes the work. One name per truck, with a phone number the driver actually has.
Agree who pays. Whether the hauler's rate includes tire calls or the farm covers them, write it down.
Put the arrangement on account in advance. A fleet account settles authorization once, so a roadside call does not wait on somebody being found at night.
Give every driver the store number. (270) 826-3931, saved in the phone and written in the cab.
What is covered
Commercial units: tractors, trailers, straight trucks, farm trucks and equipment on the road. A unit brought back to this store can be dealt with properly afterwards, because Henderson also offers heavy-duty truck alignment and trailer alignment when the failure points to a cause.
