A gate needs a name and a phone number
When a truck stops on a highway, the service vehicle can drive straight to it. When a machine or a truck stops inside a work site, there is usually a gate in between, and a gate can cost more time than the drive.
Industrial and mining sites control who comes in, for good reasons. A service vehicle arriving unannounced may wait while somebody works out who called, whether the visitor is expected, and who will escort them. On a site with safety rules for visitors, there may be steps that have to happen before anyone goes past the entrance at all.
All of that can be settled before the call ever happens.
Name a contact for the gate. A person, with a phone number that is answered on every shift, who can meet the service vehicle or tell the gate to expect it.
Know the site's visitor rules. If the site requires a safety briefing, protective equipment or an escort, tell the store in advance so it arrives ready.
Give directions to the unit, not just the site. On a large property, "at the mine" is not a location. Name the area, the road inside the site, or a landmark the gate staff will recognize.
Outside store hours
The Viburnum store closes at 3:30 PM, earlier than any other Purcell store. Roadside assistance covers commercial units outside those hours, so the site contact matters most on evenings and nights, when the store is closed and the person who knows the site may be the only one awake.
Authorization moves quickly when it is settled on a fleet account, and a unit with damaged equipment tires is OTR services once it is safe. The national roadside assistance page lists what any call needs.
Other roadside stores nearby
De Soto and Washington also run roadside assistance.
