Every new driver needs the account rules on day one
A fleet account is only as good as the people who use it, and the people who use it most are the drivers. The account manager agreed the terms, the specifications and the approval limits. The new driver hired last week knows none of it.
That gap shows up at the worst moments. A driver with a flat on a Friday afternoon calls the number on a sticker from three owners ago. A driver at the counter says yes to a tire that is not on the specification because nobody told them there was one. A roadside call waits while someone tries to find out who can approve it.
None of that is a supplier problem. It is an onboarding problem, and it costs very little to fix.
A one-page sheet for every cab
Put these on a single page, keep a copy in every unit, and hand it to every new driver on their first day:
- The store number to call, (573) 243-5751, and the account name to give.
- Who approves work, with a phone number that is answered, and the spending limit drivers can approve themselves.
- The tire specification by position, so a driver can say no to the wrong tire.
- What to report after any tire event: unit, position, cause if known.
Review it whenever a driver leaves or joins, and whenever the approval contact changes. A sheet with the wrong name on it is worse than no sheet.
What the account covers
Seventeen services sit behind it, including 24-hour roadside assistance, heavy-duty truck alignment, trailer alignment, OTR work and retreading through the plant in Potosi, along with the car and light truck list for the pickups that run beside the trucks.
Other stores nearby
De Soto runs fleet accounts to the north, and Paducah, KY across the state line.
