Purcell Tire & Service in Springfield, MO

The Purcell store at 1740 E Commercial St runs nineteen services, more than any other location in the company. Mining programs, mobile service, state inspections, commercial work and the full car and light truck list, all from one address.

The longest service list in the company

Springfield offers every service on Purcell's list but one. The only one missing is industrial tire services, which no Purcell store lists.

Three of them are rare enough to be worth naming:

  • Mobile service, planned tire work at your yard or site. Seven Purcell locations in the country offer it.
  • Mining fleet services, managed tire programs for sites. Thirteen locations offer it, and Springfield is the only one in Missouri.
  • State inspections, offered at ten Purcell locations, all in Missouri and Utah.

Mobile service and roadside are different things

Both are offered here, and they solve opposite problems.

Mobile service is planned: tires changed at your yard or site, at a time you chose, usually across several units in one visit. It removes a run of trips to the store.

Roadside assistance is unplanned: a unit has stopped somewhere it should not be, and a technician comes to it.

A yard full of trailers is the first. A truck on the shoulder at 2:00 AM is the second.

What a nineteen-service store is for

A list this long is not about range for its own sake. It means a business with mixed equipment can run one account: the haul truck, the tractor unit, the trailer, the service pickup and the owner's car, all handled at one address by people who know the history.

For a site running a managed program, mining fleet services is the structure around that: the equipment list, the inspection routine, the change-out schedule and the reporting that turns tire spend into a number somebody can read.

Starting a site program

A mining or quarry program begins with a conversation about equipment rather than tires. Have this ready and the first call does most of the work:

  • The equipment list: make, model, tire size and quantity.
  • The application and surface for each machine.
  • Hours per shift and shifts per day.
  • What is failing now: cuts, impacts, heat, sidewall damage or wear.
  • Site access, safety requirements and induction.
  • Who authorizes work, and what reporting you need.

That last point is the one sites skip and regret. A program whose numbers nobody sees is a recurring service call rather than a falling cost.
