24-Hour Roadside Assistance in Belgrade, MT

Purcell Tire & Service runs commercial roadside assistance from 246 Briar Pl #2 in Belgrade, around the clock, for trucks, trailers and off-highway equipment in southwest Montana. Call (406) 388-2710.

Calling early is the whole strategy

Every fleet knows the temptation: the tire is going, the driver is forty miles from a stop, and getting there sounds better than sitting on a shoulder.

In Montana in January that calculation is wrong twice. The driver ends up stopped anyway, somewhere less convenient and colder than where they were. The tire that might have been repairable has been run flat, which destroys the casing and turns a repair into a replacement that has to travel a long way to reach you. See retreading for why a sound casing is worth protecting out here.

Stopping the unit the moment a tire fails is the cheaper decision almost every time.

What winter actually does

Cold air carries less pressure. A tire checked warm in October is low in December without anyone touching it, and a tire running low builds heat, wears unevenly and fails at a rate nothing else on this page comes close to.

That is the roadside call most likely to have been prevented. Checking pressures cold, through the season rather than once at the start of it, is the one habit that reduces winter callouts.

What the store covers

Commercial units: trucks, trailers, fleet vehicles and off-highway equipment. Belgrade carries all nine Purcell tire categories, which in a state this size is the part that decides whether the right tire is on the truck when it arrives.

Belgrade is the commercial location in Montana, covering the southwest. Billings, at 2604 Belknap Ave, is the only other Purcell store in the state and runs the same service to the east.

Make the night call short

Have the location as a mile marker and a direction of travel rather than a town. Say what the unit is and whether it is loaded. Read the tire size and position off the sidewall if it is safe to get to. Say what happened, because a blowout, a flat found at a stop and a wheel problem are three different trucks to arrive for.

Then settle authorization and billing in advance on a fleet account, which is the part that holds up a 2 AM call more often than any of the rest.

About this store

The Belgrade store is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, managed by John Jones. Roadside assistance covers commercial units outside those hours.

Questions

Roadside questions, Belgrade

How far out will you come?

Call with the route your units run and the store will tell you what it covers. Montana has two Purcell locations, so the practical answer depends on where you are between them.

Can you help a car or a pickup?

This is commercial roadside assistance. The store sells passenger and light truck tires, and the roadside service is for commercial units.

Should the driver limp to the next town?

Not on a failing tire. Running it flat usually finishes the casing, and the unit tends to stop anyway, further from help.

Do we need an account to call?

No. An account settles who authorizes work and how it is billed, which is what slows a night call down.

Put the number in the cab

Call (406) 388-2710 when a commercial unit stops, or set the account up first.
