Plan the work around the shift, not the week
An operation that runs around the clock has no quiet period to schedule into, which is the assumption most maintenance planning rests on. There is no Sunday. There is a shift change, and that is the whole of the opportunity.
A program built for that looks different from one built for a day-shift site. The questions are specific: when do the shift changes fall, how long is a machine genuinely available during one, and which tasks fit inside that window as opposed to needing a machine out of service for longer.
Pressure checks and inspections fit. A change-out on a large tire usually does not, which makes it the thing to schedule deliberately rather than squeeze.
The practical consequence is that a continuous operation gets more from its program by knowing in advance which machines will need a planned stop and booking them, than by hoping work can be fitted around production. Hoping produces the emergency change-out, which is the most expensive version of the same job.
What the program covers
- Specification by machine and application, because a loader at a face and a haul truck on a road are different problems.
- Scheduled inspection, including pressures, which is where the saving sits and which fits a shift change.
- Removal decisions, so casings come off while still worth retreading.
- OTR services for the fitting and repair work.
- Reporting, which is what makes the cost visible.
What this store does not do
Elko runs four services and carries five of the nine Purcell tire categories: agricultural, commercial, OTR, tracks, and UTV and ATV. There is no vehicle repair, no alignment, no roadside assistance and no wheel refurbishing here.
That is deliberate rather than a gap. It is a store built for equipment, and anything outside that goes to Reno or Fernley.
The first conversation
The machine list with makes, models, sizes and quantities. Application and surface for each. Shift pattern and how long a machine is realistically available at a change. What is failing now. Site access and induction.
About this store
The Elko store is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, managed by Fallon Hebdon. Reno is the other Nevada location running mining programs.
See the national mining fleet services page for all 13 locations.
