Purcell Tire & Service in Reno, NV

The Purcell store at 470 S Rock Blvd runs eighteen services covering mining equipment, commercial fleets and everyday vehicles, with mobile service for planned work at your site. All nine tire categories are carried.

Eighteen services, and an early close

Reno has the longest service list in Nevada and one of the longest in the company. It also closes at 4:30 PM, earlier than most Purcell stores, so plan drop-offs accordingly.

Two of its eighteen services are rare: mobile service, offered at seven Purcell locations nationally, and mining fleet services, offered at thirteen. Reno has both, which only a handful of Purcell locations do.

Mobile service and roadside assistance are not the same

Both are here, and they answer opposite problems.

Mobile service is planned. Tires changed at your yard or site, at a time you chose, usually across several units in one visit. A depot full of trailers is the case it exists for.

Roadside assistance is unplanned. A unit has stopped somewhere it should not be and a technician comes to it.

If you are deciding which to ask for: did you choose the time, or did the tire?

What a mining program adds

The difference between buying tires for a site and managing them is inspection and timing. Damage found early is repaired rather than scrapped, casings are pulled while they are still worth retreading, and change-outs happen in a maintenance window rather than at a loading face.

Mining fleet services is the structure around that, and the number it is measured on is cost per hour rather than cost per tire.

Reno or Fernley

Two Purcell stores serve northern Nevada and they are close enough that the choice is worth explaining.

Reno has eighteen services. The two that Fernley does not have are mobile service, for planned work at your site, and mining fleet services, for a managed site program. If you need either, this is the store.

Fernley has sixteen and covers everything else: roadside assistance, fleet accounts, alignment on tractors and trailers, OTR work, retreading, and the full car and light truck list. For routine work it is a question of which is nearer rather than which does more.

Both carry all nine tire categories, so tire supply is not a reason to pick one over the other.

Questions

Questions about the Reno store

What are the hours?

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, which is an earlier close than most Purcell stores. 24-hour roadside assistance covers commercial units outside those hours.

Can Purcell come to our yard in Reno?

Yes. Reno is one of two Nevada locations offering mobile service, alongside North Las Vegas. Tell them how many units, where they are and when your window is.

Do you work on cars here?

Yes, the full list: brakes, alignment, oil changes, A/C, cooling system, engine repair, scheduled maintenance and suspension.

Does Reno handle mining equipment?

Yes. It is one of 13 Purcell locations running mining fleet services, alongside OTR services for fitting and repairs.

Where are casings retreaded?

At a Purcell plant rather than here. Salt Lake City is the nearest of the seven. The store collects casings and they come back ready to run.
