When there is one supplier, the agreement matters more
In a city, a fleet account is a convenience. Somewhere with one tire store within a long drive, it is the mechanism that decides whether the sizes you depend on are on a shelf when you need them.
That is the conversation worth having here, and it is a specific one rather than a general promise. Which sizes do you run, how many of each, how fast do you go through them, and which of them would stop a machine or a truck if it were not available.
A store that has those numbers can hold stock against them. A store that finds out when you call cannot, and nobody is at fault; the information simply did not exist in time.
What an account covers
Agreed specifications by position, vehicle type and machine application, so the same tire goes on each time rather than whatever was available. Scheduled work in place of reactive work. Terms and authorization settled once, which is what decides the speed of a roadside call. Records, so tire cost becomes a figure per unit.
The services it draws on here: OTR services, retreading, tire and wheel balancing and wheel refurbishing.
Lead time is the number to ask about
The question most operations never put to a supplier is how long something takes to get when it is not in stock.
Ask it for every size you depend on, write the answers down, and you have the information needed to decide what is worth holding and what is not. A size with a short lead time does not need to sit on a shelf. A size that takes a week does, and knowing which is which is the whole of stock planning.
Mixed yards are normal here
Craig carries all nine Purcell tire categories, which is unusual for a commercial store and reflects what the area runs: haul trucks and loaders, the service trucks that look after them, ranch equipment, and the pickups that go everywhere.
What is not offered is general vehicle repair. Brakes, oil changes and engine work are at Loveland and Denver.
About this store
The Craig store is the only Purcell location in northwest Colorado, open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
See the national fleet services page for the other 48 locations.
