What balancing can fix, and what it cannot
This store balances. It does not align, which makes the distinction worth being precise about, because sending a vehicle a long way to the wrong service is an expensive mistake out here.
Balance corrects weight distributed unevenly around an assembly. The symptom is a vibration that appears in a speed range and fades above and below it, and it is felt rather than seen.
Alignment corrects the angles the wheels sit at. The symptoms are a pull, a wander, a steering wheel off-center, and tires wearing unevenly across their face.
A vibration at every speed is neither, and usually points at a damaged tire, a wheel, or something worn.
Craig can balance and can look at the tire and the wheel. Alignment is at Loveland and Denver for light vehicles, and at those two plus Colorado Springs for heavy trucks.
Rule out the free things first
Before a vehicle goes anywhere, two checks cost nothing and resolve a fair number of vibration complaints.
Clean the wheels, inner faces included. Packed mud or material carries weight that was never in anybody's calculation, and it falls off before the vehicle reaches a shop.
Check the pressures cold. An under-inflated tire changes how an assembly behaves and is the more common problem by a wide margin.
What this store balances
Commercial truck and trailer assemblies, equipment, and light vehicles. Craig carries all nine Purcell tire categories, which is unusual for a commercial store and is the result of being a long way from an alternative.
A vibration that survives a balance usually points at the wheel. Wheel refurbishing is offered here, so that question can be answered in the same visit rather than after a second attempt.
The casing cost
Patchy tread wear from an unbalanced assembly can cost a commercial casing its retread life. The vibration is the symptom; the casing is part of the bill.
