The one place where both halves happen at once
A tire and the wheel under it are usually dealt with by two different businesses at two different times, which is why wheels get neglected.
At this address they do not have to be. The Purcell retread plant is on this site, so a casing going for a retread leaves its wheel standing free a few yards from the people who refurbish wheels.
That is the arrangement worth setting up: casings and wheels go together, come back together, and the wheel work happens inside downtime that already existed. On a fleet account it becomes standing rather than something anybody has to remember.
What the inspection decides
The national wheel refurbishing page covers the process. What is worth knowing for planning is that the inspection comes first, so a batch sent across the yard gets sorted into recoverable and not before any work is committed to.
Some wheels do not. A crack ends one, as does damage affecting the structure, and that is established before work starts rather than after you have paid for it.
Why the leak is almost always the wheel
A tubeless tire has no inner tube. The air sits between the tire bead and a narrow band of metal on the wheel, and corrosion or damage at that surface prevents a seal whatever tire is fitted.
A position that keeps needing air, with a new tire on it, is a wheel problem being treated as a tire problem. It is also one of the more common ways a fleet spends money on the wrong part repeatedly.
When a vibration survives balancing
A correctly balanced tire on a wheel that is out of round still shakes, and the usual response is to balance it again.
Tire and wheel balancing is at this address, so the rim can be checked in the same visit rather than after a second attempt has failed.
About this store
