A pull you correct for an hour is different from one you correct for ten minutes
Alignment is normally argued on tire cost. On the kind of driving done here, where trips are long and roads are straight and empty, there is a second cost that is harder to put a number on and easier to feel.
A vehicle that pulls requires continuous correction. In town that is a series of small adjustments among all the other adjustments driving involves, and nobody notices. On an hour of straight road it is a constant, low-level effort, held the whole time, with nothing else to distract from it.
The drivers who do this regularly describe arriving more tired than the distance accounts for. It gets attributed to the drive, and some of it is the vehicle asking to be held straight for the entire journey.
Which makes a pull worth correcting even when it is slight and even when the tires look fine. The tire argument is real; the fatigue argument is the one that applies on a long empty road.
Rule out the free causes first
Before booking, check two things that imitate a misalignment.
Tire pressures, cold and against the specification. A tire lower than the one opposite pulls toward the low side, and in this climate pressures move around enough that this is a common false alarm.
Road crown. Roads slope to shed water, so a slight drift to the right is normal. Drive the same stretch in both directions; a pull that reverses is the road, and one that stays is the vehicle.
If both are clear and it still pulls, the vehicle has something to say.
When else to book it
The national alignment page covers the occasions and what each angle does. An alignment that will not hold is suspension, handled at this store with the alignment afterwards.
