Match the tire to the cycle, not to the machine
The question most often asked is what tire fits a given machine. The more useful question is what that machine spends its day doing.
Two loaders of the same model can have completely different tire requirements. One working a face and tramming a short distance is a cutting and impact problem. One carrying loads across a yard all shift is a heat and wear problem. Fitting the same tire to both and comparing their lives tells you nothing except that the applications differ.
Describe the duty cycle when you call: surface, distance travelled per cycle, hours per shift, and what is failing now. That is what a specification should be built from.
Keeping a record changes the decisions
A site that records which tire went on which machine, when, and what it looked like coming off, can answer questions that are otherwise guesswork.
Was the last specification better or worse? Is one machine destroying tires faster than its twin, and if so is that the operator, the route or the machine? Is the pass rate for retreading going up or down?
None of that needs a system. It needs somebody writing down what came off and why, which is also the basis of a managed program. See mining fleet services, run from this store and nowhere else in Washington.
Repair before replacement
The national OTR services page sets out when an injury is repairable and why, on a tire of this value, repair is frequently the right answer.
Record the outcome either way. Whether a given injury was repairable is exactly the kind of thing the duty cycle record above should be capturing, because it accumulates into a picture of what your ground is doing to tires.
What the store covers
Fitting and change-outs, repair, and casing inspection. Monroe carries OTR tires and every other Purcell category, and collects casings for the plant in Portland, Oregon.
Mobile service is not offered here; seven Purcell locations run it and none is in Washington.
About this store
The Monroe store is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, managed by JR Webster. Lacey and Renton also run OTR services.
See the national OTR services page for all 41 locations.
