Near a state line, know which state inspects your vehicle
Joplin sits where Missouri meets Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. A lot of people here live in one state, work in another, and drive vehicles registered in a third. That is normal for the area, and it raises a question worth answering before you book anything.
Inspection requirements are set by each state for vehicles it registers. Where you live, where you work, and where you bought the vehicle are not necessarily what decides it. A Missouri inspection is for a vehicle the Missouri rules apply to, and whether yours is one of them depends on the state that registers it and on that state's rules for its vehicle type.
The states around Joplin do not all handle this the same way, and the rules change from time to time. The reliable step is to check with the state that registers your vehicle, or ask the store when you book, rather than to rely on what a neighbor across the line does.
What the store can tell you
What Missouri currently requires for your vehicle, what to bring, and how long to allow. Purcell performs the inspection to whatever the state requires at the time. The national state inspections page covers the obvious preparation that avoids most easy failures: lights, wipers, tires and warning lights.
If something fails
The correction can usually happen in the same building. Joplin offers brake repair and suspension repair, along with tires and the rest of the vehicle list. Ask for the cost before any work starts, so the decision stays yours.
Other inspection stores
Springfield and Osage Beach also perform Missouri state inspections.
