Off the pavement is where the hard calls are
A truck stopped on a highway shoulder is a straightforward call. A unit stopped on a forestry track, a construction access road or an unsealed site road is not, and a fair amount of the work out of this store is the second kind.
What makes the difference is the detail you give when you call. A highway call needs a mile marker. A call from off the pavement needs the access point, the gate, the surface conditions and whether a service truck can physically reach the unit. Saying all of that up front prevents a truck arriving at the wrong end of a road it cannot drive down.
The tire that was already damaged
The most common avoidable call out of this area is a tire that picked up a cut or a puncture on unsealed ground and was left to see what happened.
Embedded material works further in with every mile. A repairable injury becomes a flat somewhere worse, and the casing that would have been worth saving for retreading is gone with it.
Checking tires after a day off pavement, rather than at the end of the week, is what turns a night call into a shop visit.
What is covered
Commercial units: tractors, trailers, straight trucks, agricultural and off-highway equipment. Lacey carries all nine Purcell tire categories, which decides whether the tire that arrives is the right one.
The store is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Roadside assistance covers commercial units outside those hours.
Information that gets the right truck out
Where the unit is, in terms somebody can navigate to. What the unit is and whether it is loaded. The tire size and position, read from the sidewall if that is safe. What happened, since a blowout, a slow flat and a wheel problem call for different arrivals. A number that stays reachable.
Authorization and billing are what hold a night call up, and a fleet account settles both in advance.
