Purcell Tire & Service in Twin Falls, ID

The Purcell store at 172 Hankins Rd South in Twin Falls covers trucks, fleets and everyday vehicles under one roof: fourteen services and all nine tire categories, in the middle of the Magic Valley's farming country.

One store, the whole list

Twin Falls is the only Purcell location in south central Idaho, and it is a commercial and consumer store rather than a specialist one. That is the right shape for the place: a farm here runs tractors, a truck, a trailer and the pickup somebody drives home, and all four are handled at one address.

Fourteen services is two fewer than Boise. The differences are specific rather than general: Twin Falls does not offer OTR services or wheel refurbishing, both of which are at Boise. Everything else on the Idaho list is here.

Farm tires in the Magic Valley

All nine categories are carried, including agricultural tires for tractors, combines, sprayers, implements and grain carts, and tracks for tracked machines.

What a farm actually needs from a tire store here is availability at the wrong moment. Equipment does not fail politely, and the window between a machine stopping and a crop suffering can be very short. Two things shorten the gap: telling the store in advance which sizes you cannot do without, and getting marginal tires looked at while the machine is idle rather than hoping.

Casings collected here go to the Boise retread plant, the nearest of Purcell's seven, and come back ready to run. On large farm tires that is worth asking about every time, because the casing is the expensive structure and it outlasts the tread it came with.

One store, a wide area

Being the only Purcell location in south central Idaho shapes how the store is used. For a business running several machines, the sensible arrangement is an account rather than a series of separate visits: fleet services covers agreed specifications, scheduled work and records, and it applies to a farm with a yard full of equipment exactly as it does to a trucking company.

What this store does not do

Two honest gaps, both covered elsewhere in the state:

  • OTR services. Fitting, change-outs and repairs on haul truck and loader tires are at Boise. Twin Falls does carry OTR tires and can supply them.
  • Wheel refurbishing. Also at Boise, and at Idaho Falls Commercial.

Questions

Questions about the Twin Falls store

Does one store really cover both my truck and my car?

Yes. Twin Falls is a commercial and consumer location, so the fleet work and the car work happen at the same address, usually on the same account if you want it that way.

What are the hours?

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed at weekends. 24-hour roadside assistance covers commercial units outside those hours.

Do you carry tractor and implement tires?

Yes, all nine Purcell categories including agricultural and tracks. Call with the machine and the size from the sidewall, and call before the season rather than during it.

Can you service a loader or a haul truck?

Twin Falls supplies OTR tires but does not offer OTR services. That work is at Boise, which is the Idaho location for it.

Where do casings go for retreading?

To the Boise plant. The store collects them; you do not need to make the trip.
